About Sew Characteristically You

Sarah has loved to sew for many years and was taught the basics by her mom before venturing out to learn more from blogs, online classes, books, and the school of experience. Her main sewing tools are her Singer sewing machine and serger by Brother and Edna, her Celine dress form.

While she has worked on projects from quilting and home decor to altering and repair, her preference is to be sewing clothes and planning the next great project. She loves vintage, so much of what she creates is vintage styled. Some of her most ambitious projects to date are her explorations into pattern drafting by designing the Hope skirt pattern and her forays into fitting as the groundwork for her 1940's silk taffeta ballgown. While the 1940's are her main passion, she has dabbled in other historical eras by creating an 1860's day dress.

The Sew Characteristically You blog features Sarah's work on personal sewing projects, pattern development, interviews with other bloggers, and topics relating to her love of vintage eras. Her Etsy shop of the same name is as varied as her blog showcasing vintage sewing patterns, fashion accessories, and home decor items.
