I thought I just might show off another one or two of my Christmas presents. Quite a bit of my Christmas list was sewing related, although not entirely since I got my new cowboy hat!
These applique scissors were recommended by one of the Craftsy instructors, (unfortunately I can't remember which) to use when clipping seams and such small work because the bill will help keep the project away from the cutting edge. (I am sure that I am not the only one who has gotten impatient clipping curves or trimming seams and have snipped into my garment.)
The Art of Manipulating Fabric is geared towards home decor I believe, but there is quite a bit in there that I can use in garment construction. Between the ruffles, flounces, pleats, smocking, and gathers I am sure I will find ample ideas for application to a garment. The ruffles are particularly alluring for a skirt idea that I have. Some of the pleats would be interesting as kick pleats in a 1930's skirt. And then the smocking might be fun on the yoke of a blouse.
I just love Christmas presents that are useful!
Sarah loves to sew, learn more about sewing, and create items with a vintage flair. Her arch enemy is clipping curves, and she has a tolerable relationship with the seam ripper.
