I know my blogging presence has been less that optimal of late, but I think that is the way it might be for awhile. At some point, I will relate why, but now is not the time. But let's not get all gloomy!
I am back with a real post, to let you know what the status of my Civil War Dress is!
I went over to my friend Miriam's house last night, and spent several hours sewing with her. We got a little done before dinner, and then were finished with most everything before 10 o'clock.
I even had time to make a little collar to add a little something to the neckline.
Most of the sewing was hand sewing. Hand stitching the hem. Finishing off the armhole seams with the lining. Stitching the neckline binding. Attaching the skirt to the waistband. Attaching the bodice to the waistband. Adding Skirt fasteners.
The process of attaching the skirt to the waistband went fairly fast all considering you have to whip stitch every pleat down to the waistband. :)
You'll just have to wait to see me wear it. Maybe I'll get some photos up late this week, but I do have an event this Friday so hopefully I will get some pictures of the dress in action!
Sarah loves to sew, learn more about sewing, and create items with a vintage flair. Her arch enemy is clipping curves, and she has a tolerable relationship with the seam ripper.
